I was going to do this last night, but the settings page was down so I couldn't change my phone number to my current number. Boo hiss. But here it is now. Stolen from opaleyes and hullabalo_o.

Instructions: Make a voice post and answer the following questions.

Your name and/or username
Where you're from
The following words: Aunt, Roof, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting Image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught, Orange, Coffee, direction, naturally, aluminium and herbs
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

It cut me off at 5 minutes, because it is LAZY. I got through all the questions, but I was going to add that even though I grew up in Texas, I don't like the Texas drawl, so I try not to have it. So I hope I don't sound Texan in this.

PS: MY VOICE SOUNDS WEIRD.

50,639 words. 45% of my novel was done in the last 4 days. I am the queen of procrastination.

Meme
I like memes sometimes, especially when they are easy. This one's from schwimmerin:

Comment and I'll give you a letter. Post a list of ten songs you love beginning with that letter in your journal.

She gave me the letter I:
"I'm a Little Airplane" as covered by They Might Be Giants
"I'm OK, You're OK", by MxPx and as covered by Joy E
"(I Am) Made From The Wires" by Joy Electric
"I Belong To You / Mon Cœur S'ouvre À Ta Voix" by Muse
"I Disappear" by The Faint
"I Enjoy Being a Boy" as covered by They Might Be Giants
"I Will Survive" by Cake or The Puppini Sisters. Really, this is just a great song no matter who is covering it.
"If I Only Had a Heart" by Ozma
"Invincible" by Muse
"It's My Life / Confessions Pt. II" from Glee

Bonus songs, aka I don't LOVE these, but I really do like them:
"In a Beautiful Place Out In The Country" by Boards of Canada
"I'm Blue" by Eiffel 65
"I Wonder Why The Wonderfalls" by Andy Partridge
"Is This Art?" by The Levellers
"It's Not Me, It's You" by Simon & Milo (I love how they used the tune from "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy", okay?)
"It's Only Pop" by Norway (Nostalgariffic!)
"Invincible" by OK Go

So I noticed that I've been getting crazy with the snooze button lately, hitting it every 5 minutes for up to 30 minutes or so. This happens sometimes, usually gradually. I get worse and worse about snoozing, then one day realize I'm hitting snooze for 45 minutes every morning (yes, it's gotten that bad before) so I do something drastic to get myself to stop. It works, and for a while I'm getting up shortly after my first alarm until I start slipping again.

I've never been able to get up with just the first alarm. I have to snooze at least once. I've tried not snoozing at all, and it just doesn't work. My brain has a block against such things.

Anyways, I'm in the "Oh man I need to cut this out!" stage of my snooze cycle, so I downloaded an alarm app for my Incredible that makes you solve math problem before it turns off. I have it set to Medium difficulty, with problems like "72-29+15". To hit snooze, I have to solve one such problem, to turn off the alarm completely I have to solve THREE. Correctly.

Yeah, it turns out I'm not good at doing math at 6:30 in the morning. This morning I think I got more wrong than I got right, though yesterday I got them all on the first try. BUT! It HAS helped me get up faster. I'm down to two snoozes before I get up. After forcing my poor brain to add and subtract numbers, I kind of lay there staring at the wall/ceiling/pillow thinking "Man, I wish I was falling back asleep" but not actually falling back asleep. Victory!

In other news, I'm rooting my phone this weekend. I'm slightly nervous, but mostly excited.

Okay, so a while back one of you LJ people posted a thing about how to cheaply get "art" onto a wall. It involved Flickr and some site with cheap printing/framing, or maybe just having it printed and going DIY with the frame? And whoever posted it used a landscape, I think, maybe of an orange sunset? Or maybe just something orange? Does this ring a bell to anyone? I could swear it was posted by one of my LJ friends.

I'm listening to the Harry Potter books (narrated by Stephen Fry, who does an excellent job) as my way of rereading the entire series, which I've been meaning to do for about 2 years now. As I listen, I'm noticing new things and remembering things I'd forgotten:

- I love how JKR seeds things into the first books that come up again in later books. I am in awe of her planning skills. I can't even imagine how detailed her notes must be.

- I am on book 4, and have been brought to tears twice- once at the end of book 1 when Hagrid gave Harry a book of pictures of his parents, the first he'd ever seen, and once after the first task when Harry and Ron make up and are friends again.

- Book 4 is like Wednesday. It's the "hump book" of the series. It's right in the middle, and it's sort of the transition from the beginning to the ending. It's my least favorite, too.

- I will never understand Snape lovers, or even just the people who say "Oh, Snape wasn't so bad!" Snape is a small, petty, horrible man. Halfway through the series, I've already lost track of how many times he has actively participated in the Slytherins picking on Harry. Why? Because he's the son of a guy he didn't like in school and the girl he had a crush on. Yeah, that's totally a good reason for a grown man to bully a kid. Uh, no. Grow up, dude, and get over yourself. Yeah, your time as school sucked, we understand you were bullied, but knowing how much it sucks to be bullied, your solution is to encourage bullying?

- I still don't like the idea of Ron & Hermione getting together. I'm dreading it. I can see where JKR is dropping the hints, as well as hints about Harry & Ginny, but I still don't like it. It still doesn't feel right or natural to me. So I'm going to keep pretending that Harry and Hermione got married and had awesomely adorable babies. With new names, none of this "Albus Severus" stuff.

- Book 4 really is my least favorite. I have to make myself listen to it. It's just so long and drawn-out, and it seems like most of the book has nothing to do with anything. But when I finish, I get to move on to books 5, 6, and 7! I like those books... so I will slog on.

Tonight, rather than do anything productive, I spent way too much time redoing the layout of my journal. It all started with wanting to find a new default icon (Hello, Pleiades!) and then kind of aimlessly poking at the style options and then searching for a community for the Flexible Squares style to see if I could find any interesting layouts and... yeah. I found one, and then changed the background, and then started digging through the CSS to change little things like font sizes.

And this is how my entire night disappeared.

Someday, when I am not so sleepy, I will finish the job and move all the images to my own hosting ("for safies", according to the gal who made the layout) and figure out how the change the color on the half-circle thingies and how to change the color of the parentheses around an lj-cut and how to add a tags link. But all of that requires deciphering code, and man, I'm sleepy. I just don't feel like it now. Of course, this means it will probably never get done, but... I'm okay with that.
